Former head coach of the Russian national biathlon team Alexander Kasperovitch in a conversation with a correspondent, he expressed the opinion that the re-elected president of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov more attention should be paid to the development of sport in the regions.
On October 14, the RBU Reports and Elections Conference was held in the building of the Russian Olympic Committee in Moscow. Aleksey Nuzhdov, president of the Moscow Region Biathlon Federation, also claimed the position of head of the organization. All 54 delegates who took part in the meeting voted: Maygurov received 31 votes, Nuzhdov – 23.
– Most regions voted for Maygurov, so we will live by his program. All in all, the electoral struggle was tenacious. It is difficult to assess Victor’s work during these two years, when we were first practically closed because of the coronavirus, then because of the political situation. Of course, if we evaluate the results of team performance, we can talk about success. There are also medals at the Olympic Games. But the main task of the RRF is not the performance of the national team at the Olympic Games and World and European Championships, but the development of biathlon in the regions.
I know well the situation of our sport in the regions from the Far East to the Murmansk region. Here it would be easy to pay attention to them, because all these regions were practically abandoned. On the part of the federation, there was not enough attention to the organization, holding of competitions, construction … For example, in Chuvashia we have a magnificent biathlon complex, which is located just there. Although geographically it is very convenient for us, and the weather conditions correspond to our kind … Take the “island” in Pskov, where there are many biathletes. It’s just abandoned. It requires a global reconstruction of the complex.
Many regions need attention, not even financially, but simply in terms of support, somewhere in the administrative resource. Many questions arise regarding the opening and closing of shooting ranges and their construction. In other words, sometimes you don’t need a lot of money, but you just need administrative assistance. Viktor Viktorovich should therefore reconsider this approach and pay more attention to the regions. Let’s see how it will be, – said Kasperovich “”.
