Russian ice skating coach Dmitri Dorofeev told that the sprint team will not race all stages of the Russian Cup.
Dorofeev’s sprint team started the season this week with a performance at the Shavyrin Memorial in Kolomna.
– Do you give the sprint group the task of running all the stages of the Russian Cup?
– We do not set such a task. Now, after Shavyrin, the guys will race a stage in Kolomna, then someone will go to St. Petersburg for a stage, some won’t. They must run the third stage in Chelyabinsk, then two Russian championships – separate distances and all-around.
The level of the guys is world class, high. How much motivation is enough without international competitions, I don’t know. And let’s not forget that it would be a difficult season in principle – after the Olympics, it always is. Someone thinks, someone takes a break, those who remain continue to work.
