Coach of the Russian national cross-country team Yuri Borodavko in a conversation with a correspondent, he said that domestic athletes always had villains who did not want to see their success on the international stage.
Earlier, International Ski Federation (FIS) board member Martti Uusitalo said no one on the board supported the idea of sending Russian athletes back to the World Cup. According to him, the decision to extend the suspension will be taken on Saturday.
– It is difficult to say whether anyone on the FIS council really supports the return. I still haven’t spoken to them. But there are outspoken enemies who, in principle, never wanted to see the victory of Russian and Soviet athletes. For them, it has always been like a bone in the throat. So why pay attention to it? Whether they want us to come back or not… Soviet and Russian sports exist and will continue to exist. Together we will carry our flag. We are Russians, we are what we are, and we will not allow anyone to treat us like this. Only with respect.
It has already been announced that Russian skiers are not allowed until the end of the season. I don’t think with all the hysteria, no one wants to get out of this chorus. It’s a very well coordinated anti-Russian choir, you see it in everything. Nobody wants to be a black sheep, a unit that has honor and conscience and expresses an alternative point of view. So everything is like a flock of crows or dogs,” Borodavko told .
At the end of February, the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that federations ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions because of the situation in Ukraine. Many federations have followed these recommendations.
