– Why LFK?
– At some point when I passed the exam, I scored a good number of points and was able to enter a medical institute. Probably, there remained an unfulfilled dream – to become a doctor, to work in this field. But I chose the path of sport. If I had made a different choice, I might not have become who I am today.
– And how is your studies going?
– Difficult, but interesting.
You have an ankle ligament injury. What do you recommend to the sick patient? Should I force a return to training?
– I can say that without my knowledge, things with the ankle could have been worse. But here I already knew immediately which protocol to act on.
— Can you rate yourself as a patient? After all, there are different ones – some do not obey.
– I’m fine (laughs). Although already on the third day she began to actively load her leg. The guys I work with said, “Here you insult us, but you yourself jump like crazy, even if it hurts you.”
– You said you were working. Where?
– At the Center for Sports Technologies, where athletes are treated. She started working as an exercise therapy instructor and has already released several into sports after injury.
– Short track colleagues meet?
– A few guys from Moscow came, helped them, restored their backs, said they had to work. When you do your back, it doesn’t hurt, when you don’t, it still hurts, and they come running back.
What about the sports career?
– I can’t run for at least a month, the injury requires full recovery – the full range of motion has not yet been restored, it takes time. As soon as the leg is healed, I will start walking and skating. Above all, to have fun. This is the main focus so far.
– Katya Efremenkova switched to speed skating. Have you thought about trying your hand at a long track?
I thought about it in February. And in general, I thought, what can I try myself. But the season was tough, unsuccessful qualification for the Olympic Games. It takes time to recover and understand if you’re ready to dive back into all that for four years. Moreover, now, we do not understand if they will allow us to attend the next Olympic Games.
– In the summer you got up on the sap. How are the prints?
“My friend and I, who have his own sap school, even wanted to organize a training program. Next year, if all goes well, we will try to implement the ideas. In fact, SUP is very difficult when I tried to do exercises on it, I was afraid of falling in the water, especially since I am not a fan of rivers and lakes.
Are you invited to entertainment events?
– We don’t have a particularly high-profile sport, so few people are invited, but if they are called, they are always “for”. It’s interesting to meet new people, guys from other sports. We went to the AAA Cup (Cup of the Ageev brothers and Olympic champions Yuri Postrigai and Alexander Dyachenko), in kayak competition. Such movements for an athlete are cool.
– Why didn’t you go to study in a specialty related to the media?
– There was such an idea. Maybe even think about it. During the Beijing Games, she worked as a commentator and felt comfortable commentating on her favorite sport. I was very inspired by it all.
– Many athletes, starting to work as a commentator, say that it is more difficult than it seemed before.
“It’s not an easy job, it’s very difficult. Especially when you are on the air of a federal channel and you have no right to be wrong. When I commented on “Match”, they remembered Lara van Riven, and I burst into tears on air. It may have been impossible to do, but it was very difficult to deal with the emotions. I went to these shows with great joy. Maybe in the future I will decide to get training to work in television. Wait and watch.
