Zhurova on FIS decision to leave Russians out: ‘So far only a few brave federations allow us to do so’

The admission of Russian athletes to the starts is only allowed by bold individual federations, and the International Ski Federation (FIS) has not yet listened to the emerging comments in favor of the admission of the Russian team, said the Olympic champion and deputy to the State Duma of the Russian Federation Svetlana Zhurova .

On Saturday, at a meeting of the FIS Council, it was decided to extend the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under the auspices of the organization for an indefinite period.

– There are separate federations, the brave, who can afford to have their own opinion and separate sport from politics. I think the skiers were inspired at some point, as comments from their colleagues started to appear that the Russians should compete. Maybe they thought it would affect the decision of the international federation, but it didn’t happen. Who knows, maybe it will happen again. The season has not even started yet, and in the history of admission everything will depend on how the political situation develops,” Zhurova told .
