The head of the FIS Athletes’ Commission called the non-admission of Russians a sad event for the competition

The non-admission of Russian and Belarusian skiers to international starts is a sad event for competition in this sport. This was announced on Twitter by the head of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Martti Yulhä.

– As co-chairman of the Athletes’ Commission, I voted to extend the restriction. The position has not changed since February.

In terms of competition, the situation is understandably sad, but sport is not a separate part of the rest of society, he wrote.

On Saturday, the FIS extended indefinitely the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices. This decision was taken on Saturday at a meeting of the FIS Council.
