The provincial government of British Columbia does not support the city of Vancouver’s bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, said Canada’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, Lisa Bear.
Bear believes challenges that may arise in preparation for the Games could “compromise the government’s ability to address the issues that British Columbians currently face.”
“After careful consideration, the province declines to support the application. Planning and managing an event of this magnitude requires considerable attention and resources. We are committed to hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Invictus Games in 2025.
