The team is training in Sweden
Head coach of the Ukrainian women’s biathlon team Alexander Kravchenko spoke about the preparation of Ukrainian athletes for the upcoming season 2022/23.
“We went through a training camp in Austrian Ramsau, which was shorter than the training camp for men, we stayed there for 12 days. We were getting ready for October 17th. This is due to the fact that we have an earlier departure date for the first collection. We were able to ride a little on the snow, did roller and power work. And then they made a week-long pause with returning home: the girls and coaches stayed at home for a week, spent time with loved ones, because we will get home on New Year’s Eve.
“We left Ukraine on October 26 for Swedish Idre. A full-fledged training process began there on Sunday, October 30th. The profile of the track there more or less suits us, especially under Kontiolahti, where the first stage of the World Cup was held, because we know that legendary wall. I think everything was good.”
“The task is to come to the start of the season, but not in the best shape yet, because we still plan to reach the peak for the World Cup.”
“From Wednesday, November 2, Team B will also arrive in Hydra. I think that we will definitely have a control start there. Maybe 2-3 biathletes from the main squad will go to the first sprint at the IBU Cup stage, which will be held in Shushen on November 24.”
Earlier, the coach of the men’s biathlon team of Ukraine Juraj Sanitra said that the team will go to Norway in November. The mentor noted that before the start of the 2022/23 season, it is important to prepare the athletes for a large number of moves in order to withstand the entire upcoming program.
Biathlon World Cup 2022/23 will start on November 29 at the stage in Finnish Kontiolahti. The German Oberhof will host the World Championship in February next year.
