“I’m not in good shape right now. In general”. Svetlana Mironova explains why she does not participate in Russian tournaments

One year ago Svetlana Mironova was considered our team’s hope in the next stages of the World Cup. Now we have neither these tournaments nor Sveta herself. The biathlete, of course, did not go anywhere, but she just stopped playing. The Beijing Games medalist did not participate in any of the races at the summer competitions, and the coaches only shrugged their shoulders, talking about Mironova’s body stress intolerance.

correspondent Mikhail Goncharov contacted the biathlete to find out what she is doing now and when she will finally return to competition mode.

– Artem Istomin told me the day before yesterday that you train at home and while it is happening at reduced volumes. Tell me about that.

Yes, I am recovering now. Thank God it became clear what happened to me and what is happening now. I train for my well-being, gaining some volume in the training process. Yet he goes into such a light-hearted mode. Let’s say that if I’m very tired, I can give myself a break so as not to overload the body too much. All this should lead to the fact that I will start training in a comprehensive and structured way.

Why is there such a problem now? The competitive season is going to start very soon, but for some reason such a question exists.

Because my body was exhausted in the spring. I ignored this moment and started training. Unfortunately, I did not allow myself to fully recover, which caused a serious malfunction in the body. Now that’s what I had to do. But it will be a lesson for me for the future.

– Did the problems start in the spring, when you were still working in the Shashilov group?

“It started in the spring, when I had covid, then chicken pox. My body was weakened. I began to give a load that was unbearable for the body at that time. He fell, he refused to train (laughs).

– When do you plan to start training camps in the snow?

– While the question is open. Most likely, I will start training on the snow in Yekaterinburg. But I do not exclude that something changes. I cannot give an exact answer. I can start ski training in Yekaterinburg and elsewhere, if I go somewhere.

– Did you miss the first stage of the Russian Cup in Khanty?

– 100%, I think the whole month of December is passing me by.

– When do you think you can start competitive practice?

– I can not tell. Just so you know, I’m not in good shape right now. Basically, it doesn’t matter. Basically, after spring, when we have a transition period, I was better prepared than now.

– Wow. Can you make plans?

“At the moment I am trying to restore my body to a fully functional state. After that I can start training, getting in shape, increasing volumes, because today the main task for me is to regain health.

– Since this season takes place outside of world competitions, have you thought of devoting it exclusively to health?

“I will take all the time my body needs. There is no such thing as if the season takes place only in Russia, then, perhaps, I will rest. No, this season is definitely a cornerstone for the future. I see no reason to remain without competitive practice, unless there is good reason for it.

– The reasons that are now are not considered good?

– No, I’m talking about the fact that restoring health is a serious reason not to fully train now. But when it is restored, I can begin the training process. I’m not saying that, for example, in January I will quickly assemble my skis with a rifle and run to the start. Either way, I have to get in shape first. Of course, I will try to recover as soon as possible, but, as you understand, it does not really depend on me. I do my best, and when that happens is another matter.

How many exams have you done? And to what extent does this distract you from the current training process?

– It does not distract me from the training process that is now. However, testing is the priority right now. I can say that now there are not as many as before. There were many of them in September. During this period, I did not train at all, because I was in the hospital. This was discussed earlier. My condition then did not allow me to train at all.

– After the hospital, was there an improvement?

– Yes, plus there was an understanding of where to go.

– Is the interest in biathlon still the same? However, the realities are different, there are no international competitions…

– Competitions are always interesting. I love doing it. I love all competitions. There I feel good. But, of course, it is very sad that these are not international competitions. Nevertheless, competitions are always fun and interesting. I’m not losing interest (in biathlon), it’s just that my priorities are set differently because of my health.

– There was a maternity boom in biathlon. Do you intend to devote this season to starting a family?

No, not planned yet. For now, you’re going to watch me recover (laughs).
