The Dutch set two world records at the American Short Track World Cup

Netherlands short trackers Suzanne Schulting and Xandra Welzebur world records updated during the World Cup stop in the United States.

At the Salt Lake City circuit, Schulting, a three-time Olympic and seven-time world champion, clocked 1 minute 25.958 seconds in the 1,000 meters, beating her own record of 1:26.514 set in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games in 2022 in Beijing.

Welzebur, who is an Olympic champion and two-time world champion, covered the 500m in 41.416 seconds. That time was more than half a second better than Canadian Kim Buten’s previous world record of 41.936, which has stood since 2019.

We add that both records were set by athletes during the preliminary races.

The Salt Lake City World Cup will end on November 6.
