International Biathlon Union cancels IBU Cup first round in Norway due to lack of snow

The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has canceled the first stage of the IBU Cup in Shushen, Norway, due to lack of snow, according to the organization’s website.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the IBU board in Salzburg. The Shushen stage was scheduled to take place from November 24 to 27. In addition, due to the difficult weather situation, the IBU has reduced the competition program from the second stage in Idre, Sweden to sprint races.

The meeting also discussed the potential impact of the energy crisis on the 2022/23 season. The Board of Directors received a report from a working group set up by the IBU in conjunction with the Organizing Committees to deal with issues related to the energy crisis.

Östersund (Sweden) received the right to host the 2025 World Junior Championship and Arber (Germany) won the 2026 World Championship.
