Beijing Olympic medalist biathlete Uliana Nigmatullina says the first three months of pregnancy were emotionally difficult for her.
At the beginning of November, Nigmatullina announced that she would miss the 2022/23 season due to the imminent birth of a child.
– Pregnancy is easy and relaxed. I was leaving for the first three months, then I wanted to lie down in a dark room, close my eyes and only cry. Because hormones in pregnant women are just a nightmare,” Nigmatullina said on the Voice of Biathlon podcast.
Do you keep yourself in good physical condition?
– I was four times in six months at the Terskol training camp. Maybe even keeping in shape not only myself, but also preparing the future girl.
Have you already chosen a name?
– Not. In general, I prepare for childbirth, as I prepare for competitions. You have to know everything, be able to do everything.
– How do you feel?
– I do not worry. After all, we all appeared in one way or another. There is only a sense of responsibility that everything must be done clearly and well, as the athletes say, according to plan.
– Where are you going to give birth?
— In Izhevsk. I like the way they drive me here. Thanks to the doctors.
– Will you run when you return after giving birth, if Russia does not return to the international scene?
I won’t say yes or no. It is very important for me to participate in international competitions. What will happen to my hormones in the spring, maybe I want to run the Udmurtia championship? Run and run.
Nigmatullina at the 2022 Olympics won silver and bronze medals in the classic and mixed relays, respectively.
