“I don’t blame him.” Vasiliev – about the transition of biathlete Plitsev to the national team of North Macedonia

There is nothing wrong with the transition of a biathlete Viktor Plitsev to the national team of North Macedonia, since this country is not hostile to Russia, the double Olympic champion told Dmitry Vasiliev .

According to Metaratings.ru, 27-year-old Plitsev has joined the North Macedonia national team and will be able to play for them next season. Previously, Plitsev was a member of the Russian youth team and the Udmurtia team.

– I heard about it. I don’t see anything terrible here from a moral point of view: after all, North Macedonia is not a country that is hostile to us. The second point is that the athlete wants to extend his career, and now he has the opportunity to participate in international competitions. Another thing is that in terms of supply of athletes, it is not the richest country. Nevertheless, he will have the opportunity to participate in the World Cup.

I don’t know if it was worth it. Of course, I would never do such a thing. Because I wouldn’t trade the USSR, Russia for anything, on any condition. But it’s his decision. I don’t blame him in any way. There is right. In principle, there is nothing supernatural here. Another thing is that in the West they will know that he is Russian, and they will treat him like a Russian. Now their attitude towards Russians is not the best. If he is ready to endure certain insults and humiliations… Well, I don’t know. Again, it’s his choice. It’s up to him to decide. Let’s see – time will tell, – said Vasiliev “”.
