Lack of international practice may lead to lower level of Russian biathlon, says Yurlova-Perkht

Russian biathlete world and European champion Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht spoke about a possible drop in the level of Russian biathlon due to the lack of international practice.

In February, the IOC Executive Board recommended that international federations prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions due to events in Ukraine. Many federations have followed these recommendations.

— I have already mentioned the lack of international practice. It is then that a story with a drop in the level of our biathlon can happen. The lack of international practice sometimes even in the summer season affects when there is no opportunity to travel abroad and train with colleagues from other countries. So when you get to the first stage of the World Cup in Sweden or Finland, there is uncertainty. From the following stages, everything seems to improve: both the speed appears and the confidence in shooting. Here, even within the framework of a year, some uncertainty can be traced, and if we are talking about the whole season, the situation can be even worse, – quotes the words of the athlete “Championship”.
