World and European champion, winner and winner of the World Cup stages, Russian biathlete Ekaterina Yurlova-Perkht talked about the doping scandal in Sweden.
Former Swedish biathlete Sebastien Samuelson Commenting on fellow biathlete Cordelia Melen Olsson’s positive doping test, he called the incident a sad story, but said “anyway they are better than in Russia”.
These double standards are very present. I was very interested in the evolution of this doping problem in Sweden, but everything ended very quickly. It always ends so quickly if a non-Russian athlete is caught doping. For some reason, grandiose trials begin to take place in our country, even if you did not take doping, but, let’s say, “messed up” in the ADAMS system. And there, the reaction is this: “It’s a shame that the athlete took doping, but okay.”
All of this is completely incomprehensible to me. But it’s very insulting and annoying that we’re still all one size fits all: only one got caught – everyone’s to blame. And there – well, we got caught and we got caught, that’s fine. The situation is incomprehensible to me, – quotes the words of Yurlova-Perkht “Championship”.
Olsson was suspended for two years for the drug terbutaline, which requires a therapeutic exception.
