Alimbekova married Olympic medalist Anton Smolsky in September. At the first stage of the Russian Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, the biathlete performs under her maiden name.
“Now I use my own name. What will happen next – I don’t know yet. We didn’t have time to do it so quickly: tickets and everything else were already ordered. Many is connected with my last name, so it’s not so easy to change it in an instant. In the future, of course, I would like to play under another name. I’m already married,” Alimbekova said.
