The judge on the cancellation of races at the stadium of the Russian Cup in biathlon: “There were no such frosts in Khanty-Mansiysk in November in my memory”

The chief referee of the first stage of the Russian Biathlon Cup, Vladislav Zaikin, said that the severe frost at the end of November in Khanty-Mansiysk, due to which the races were canceled, surprised him.

On Sunday, it became known that the first stage of the Russian Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk will end earlier than expected due to weather conditions. The pursuit and relay races did not take place due to frost.

– I can say that I live in this stadium and in my memory there was not such a cold here at the end of November. Over the past 11 years I have worked here as a chief judge in almost all Russian and local competitions, and during this time we have canceled only three races, including pursuit and relay races of the current Russian Cup.

It is easy to verify that in recent years Khanty-Mansiysk has traditionally hosted the first stages of the Russian Cup, and we have always organized competitions in their entirety. In addition to the Cup, in November before it, we also organize local competitions for children, the “Olympic Champions Award”, it is also traditional and generally without anomalies. Yes, we have a short-term cold spell from November 17 to 20, but this is the first time in my memory, as Zaikin is quoted by the press service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).

The second stage of the Russian Cup will take place in Uvat from December 1 to 4.
