Swedish Martin Ponsiluoma became the winner of the 20 km individual race at the first stage of the Biathlon World Cup, which is held in Kontiolahti (Finland).
Ponsiluoma, who missed on four shooting lines, set a time of 49 minutes 36.5 seconds. The second was the Swiss Niklas Hartweg (0 misses, +37.2 seconds), the German David Zobel closed the top three (0 misses, +59.3).
On Wednesday, the women’s individual race will take place in Kontiolahti.
Russian biathletes have been suspended from participation in the World Cup by decision of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
