– This is perhaps the only athlete I made a post about on social media after the Olympics, where I wrote about how unfair it was and that it should have been different. It touched me so much, to the core.

Camila’s talent is impossible not to notice. You can win some competitions once, but everyone knows that there are no figure skaters like Valieva outside of Russia yet. This person is gifted for absolutely everything: jumping, flexibility, plasticity, choreography, sense of music and tact. I am happy to be able to see his success live. I hope the situation with the WADA lawsuit will not break it,” Sidorova told .

Valieva at the Beijing Games as part of the Russian team won gold in team competitions. Before the personal tournament, it became known that the illegal drug trimetazidine was found in the doping sample of the figure skater, taken in December 2021 at the Russian Championships. The CAS allowed Valieva to compete in the individual competition, where she finished fourth. The allocation of national teams following the results of the team tournament has not yet taken place.
