The coach is pleased with the opening race of the season
Coach of the men’s biathlon team of Ukraine Yuraj Sanitra summed up the results of the opening race at the 2022/23 World Cup, which took place in Kontiolahti.
The mentor admitted that his wards coped with dignity at the debut race of the season. Sanitra also announced the participation of the leaders of the national team – Artem Pryma and Dmitry Pidruchny – in the relay.
“We have been looking forward to this day because it has been nine months since our last start at the Beijing Olympics. I myself did not know what to expect from the first race, but I think the guys ran well. Almost everyone did a good job with the shooting. There is something to build on to prepare for the next starts. I am sure that already in the relay we will be able to please and make a good result.”
“Dudchenko and Tsymbal have experience in starts at the World Cup, but Lesyuk and Nasyko did not disappear, they did not fail their start. By [работе] I expected more legs from Lesyuk, who showed a better condition during the preparation than this time on the track. But I’m glad that they coped with the shooting and supported the team. Compared to last season, we performed better.”
“[Как и у Пидручного], Prima also developed health problems that prevented him from starting. I can’t give more details. If further recovery proceeds according to our plan, he will be ready for the relay race. Am I considering Dmitry Pidruchny? Him too. According to the information at this moment, I can say that both Pidruchny and Prima will start in the relay”.
Recall that today in Kontiolahti (Finland) the debut race of the Biathlon World Cup 2022/23 took place – the men’s individual race. The best indicator among Ukrainians belongs to Anton Dudchenko, who took 30th place.
On November 30, the women’s individual race will take place in Kontiolahti. Next, the athletes will have a relay race (December 1), a sprint (December 3) and a pursuit race (December 4).
