Anton Dudchenko should become the new leader of the team
Ukrainian biathlete Dmitry Pidruchny spoke about his and team plans for the new season.
“In mode, I want to go out, I want to miss [гонку] I definitely won’t compete. Everything is agreed with the coach, in accordance with the circumstances and the tasks set – we will enter certain races. But considering what the preparation was and when I started training and my knee problems now, I think that in all the starts of the season it will be difficult for me to just physically take part and withstand such a load. But I think that I will try my best to be useful to the team and myself too. But of course, the main starts of the season are the European Championship and the World Championship for us, so we will do everything to prepare for these starts as efficiently as possible.”
“Biathlon is a very unpredictable sport, so it’s very difficult to talk about some places, but I think that we will consistently show good results in relay races. Now a very good even team, the youth has pulled up, the same Anton Dudchenko has added very much, Bogdan Tsymbal is also progressing, the same Taras Lesyuk, Denis Nasiko – they have added everything over the summer and reached out plus or minus already and perhaps somewhere surpass me and Artem Accept. Therefore, I think that in the relay races we should expect good results from our team, and in other races, I think there will also be good places.”
“I think Anton Dudchenko – he can and will show very good results this season. This is my personal opinion that I see what results he shows in training, especially in shooting. The rest of the guys are a little short of him, but I see that this is very motivating for them and they are also reaching for him. I will only be glad if they repeat and surpass the results of our generation. Therefore, I hope that they will reach a high level and together we will be able to win medals.”
Recall that today at the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti, the Ukrainian team consisting of Artem Pryma, Dmitry Pidruchny, Bohdan Tsymbal and Anton Dudchenko came to the finish line in 9th place in the relay. The Blue-Yellows used 13 extra rounds.
Norway won the first relay of the season.
