The women’s individual race of the second stage of the Russian Biathlon Cup in Uvat has been canceled, reports the press service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).
Previously, the start was postponed from Thursday to Friday due to frost, and it was also decided to reduce the distance from 15 to 12.5 km. The race was scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. Moscow time.
Press officer of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Sergey Averyanov posted a photo of a thermometer on his Telegram channel, which shows that the temperature in Uvat is minus 27 degrees Celsius.
— Too freezing today in Uvat. With the active sun, like yesterday and today, the temperature rises by about one degree in half an hour, this is not enough,” Averyanov said.
The men’s and women’s sprint races are scheduled for December 3 in Uvat, and the mixed and mixed relay races are scheduled for December 4.
At the first stage of the Russian Cup, held in Khanty-Mansiysk, the pursuit and relay races were also canceled due to severe frosts.
