Sanitra: We did well with shooting, but we are not happy that we lost a lot on the track

The coach is pleased with the performance of the Ukrainians in the men’s sprint

Trainer Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Juraj Sanitra summed up the performance of the team in sprint at the first stage World Cup in Kontiolahti. The mentor is pleased with the work of the Ukrainians on the shooting range, but noted that the athletes lack speed at a distance.

“We did a good job with the shooting, especially Lesyuk pleased. Dudchenko and Nasyko made two misses each. We are not happy that we lost a lot on the track. This is especially unlike Dudchenko: it was not his day. But, in general, if we talk about the team, three guys are wearing glasses. Therefore, I can be satisfied with the first Cup. All who passed will start in the pursuit race. We need training and a contact start.”

“Physical condition could affect the course. Perhaps something that was very cold. At the beginning of the season, we always had problems in order to scatter at this level. We are not ready yet.”

“Artem [Прима] and performed well in the relay. If his problems don’t interfere [со старой травмой], will rise. I know him: from start to start he will run better.”

“Taras [Лесюк] has risen this season in terms of shooting quality. He’s already in training. [проявляет себя] much better than last year. He needs experience. It will be a big psychological boost for him.”

The best among Ukrainians in the sprint was Artem Prima, who showed the 30th result. Bogdan Tsymbal finished 36th, Taras Lesyuk – 40th, Anton Dudchenko – 59th, Denis Nasyko – 84th. The winner of the race was the Norwegian Johannes Be.

On Sunday, December 4, the men’s pursuit race will take place in Kontiolahti. The beginning is at 13:15 Kyiv time.
