Coach of the Ukrainian women’s biathlon team Kravchenko: We are not in the shape we would like to be, but it gets better from race to race

Ukrainian women remained outside the top 50 in the sprint in Kontiolahti

Trainer Ukrainian women’s biathlon team Oleksandr Kravchenko commented on the poor performance of the team in sprint at the stage World Cup in Kontiolahti. The Ukrainians failed to finish in the top 50.

“Not in the shape I would like it to be. Judging by the previous starts, it gets a little better from race to race. And their well-being, as I asked them, and movement along the track – this can no longer be compared with what it was in the race and relay races … We will increase momentum, and I think it will be better, ”said Kravchenko.

“Were there any trends at the training camp that biathletes have problems? No, there aren’t any in particular. Everything seemed to be in a sprint [в Контиолахти] even better than the pre-season test race in Hydra.”

“We will definitely put Anya Krivonos [на гонку преследования]. She is well done, showed her fighting qualities. By Dasha [Блашко] I can’t say for sure yet. Yuri is already there. [Санитра] will make decisions. I think we need to start. Why not? Still, this is both an experience and an extra start. Moreover, then there will be a move and a few days of rest.

“Substitutions in the team? ahead [на Кубке IBU в Идре] another sprint. Preliminarily I think that Nastya [Меркушина] will go here, but it will be necessary to look at the next race, compare it with Valya [Семеренко]. Maybe Valya will come. Let’s see”.

“Jim? Her health is not very good yet. We started snot. We are still sick. The temperature is not high, but the condition is still far from ideal. Of course, we are looking forward to it, but we must first recover. She was the leader of the team and behind the legs, and there are no such problems in shooting as they were. ”

The best among Ukrainians was Anna Krivonos, who took 54th place. Daria Blashko became 60th, Elena Bilosyuk – 61st. Irina Petrenko did not start. The sprint winner was Lisa Teresa Hauser from Austria.

On Sunday, December 4, the women’s pursuit race will take place in Kontiolahti. The beginning is at 15:15 Kyiv time.
