The Frenchwoman was only 16th in the sprint
French biathlete Julia Simon won the pursuit at the first stage of the World Cup in Finnish Kontiolahti. She won back 16 positions after the sprint.
Simone shot the best and went first to the finish lap. The Frenchwoman managed to maintain her lead over her main rivals, eventually beating Italy’s Dorothea Wierer by 11.9 seconds. The third was Elvira Oeberg from Sweden.
The best among Ukrainians was Anna Kryvonos – 49th.
Today in Kontiolahti, the men’s pursuit race was won by the Norwegian biathlete Johannes Be. The best among Ukrainians was Anton Dudchenko, who showed the 18th result.
