Ivo Ferriani has been re-elected president of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF), reports Inside the Games.
As the newspaper notes, the elections took place on November 30 during the general assembly of the organization in Lausanne, but their results are only now announced. The Italian civil servant took office in 2020, replacing former International Ski Federation (FIS) President Gianfranco Kasper, who left the post earlier than expected.
International Skating Union (ISU) chief Kim Jae-yeol, International Luge Federation (FIL) president Einars Vogelis, World Curling Federation (WCF) president Bo Welling and chief of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Olle Dahlin was reinstated as a member of the AIOWF Board of Directors.
In the last AIOWF leader election in May this year, Ferriani won, but current FIS leader Johan Eliash tried to challenge their results.
Ferriani, 62, has been the head of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF, formerly FIBT) since 2010.
