The Ukrainian team, according to the coach, started the new season with dignity
Coach of the men’s biathlon team of Ukraine Yuraj Sanitra summed up the results of the first stage of the World Cup 2022/23, which took place in Finnish Kontiolahti.
“I already said at the beginning of the season that I want to give the guys from Team B a chance. Also, this situation with Dmitry Pidruchny is not what was expected. We will 100% rotate to the next stage.”
“We have already talked to Denis Nasyka, who needs to be given a little more confidence that he will start in the IBU Cup. And who will come – I’ll tell you after the sprint. I think that to look at Mandzin and Tishchenko.
“We have not had contact since February, we could not perform. We prepared in the conditions that were in this situation.”
“At the moment, I will say that none of the teams we are fighting against has been in such a difficult situation as ours. Therefore, if you look from this point of view, I can say that I am satisfied. Already the first stage the guys ran with dignity, the relay race. It is a pity that Dmitry Pidruchny is in a difficult situation with his knee, so we will see how his recovery will go.”
The second stage of the World Cup will be held in Hochfilzen (Austria) from 8 to 11 December. Men will compete in the sprint (December 9), relay (December 10) and pursuit (December 11).
