New athletes will compete in women’s and men’s teams at the Hochfilzen competitions.
The Ukrainian men’s biathlon team made a change in its composition before the second stage of the World Cup, which will be held in Hochfilzen.
According to Suspilne, the leader and captain of the team, Dmitry Pidruchny, will not be able to face the competition in Austria due to knee problems.
So, Artem Prima, Anton Dudchenko, Bogdan Tsymbal, Taras Lesyuk, Vitaliy Mandzin joined the team. For the latter, it will be the debut in the national team at the Biathlon World Cup level. Until the 2022/23 season, he competed at the IBU Junior Cup level.
There are also changes in the women’s team. Yulia Dzhima passed a positive test for the coronavirus, and Irina Petrenko also has health problems.
For the second stage of the World Cup, the coaching staff recruited the following athletes: Daria Blashko, Anna Krivonos, Elena Bilosyuk, Anastasia Merkushina, Alexandra Merkushina.
17-year-old Alexandra Merkushina first joined the Ukrainian national team at the World Cup stage. In the 2021/22 season, he competed in the IBU Junior Cup. Alexandra starts the 2022/23 season with Team B.
Anastasia Merkushina last played for Team A in the 2022 Olympics.
