Anastasia Merkushina entered the top 40 of the sprint, Herrmann-Wik won the first race in Hochfilzen

Three Ukrainian women qualified for the pursuit race

Anastasia Merkushina became the best among Ukrainian biathletes in the sprint at the second stage World Cup in Austrian Hochfilzen.

Anastasia demonstrated clean shooting and eventually took 35th place, losing 1 minute 34 seconds to the winner. Two more Ukrainians qualified for the pursuit race – Daria Blashko and Elena Bilosyuk ranked 56th and 57th respectively. Alexandra Merkushina with one penalty, and Anna Krivonos with two, were 72nd and 73rd.

German sprinter wins Denise Herrmann-Wickcovering all targets. Czekh Marketa Davidova lost 18 seconds to her, winner of the last pursuit Julia Simon finished third, 20 seconds back.

On Friday, the competition will continue with the men’s sprint race. The women’s pursuit will take place on Saturday, December 10th.
