Ex-skier Lampich – about 5th place at the Biathlon World Cup stage: “Total madness. I just want to enjoy and have fun”

Slovenian biathlete Anamaria Lampic Commenting on the fifth-place finish in her first World Cup race, she said she wanted to enjoy participating in the starts.

Thursday, the former skier finished fifth in the sprint of the second stage in Hochfilzen (Austria). Lampic missed three times while standing and had the best run of the race.

I can’t explain it, it’s total madness. I just want to enjoy and have fun, it was awesome! After the fifth closed target in the prone position, I was over the moon. I thought, “Come on, come on.” Then I missed three in the standings, but I could have missed five, so I’m happy.

I think my coach Ricco Gross will be unhappy because he always asks me to catch my breath shooting. So when I missed three targets, I set myself up and was able to fire my last two shots on target. To be honest, I didn’t expect to finish this high. It means a lot for my future,” Lampic said, citing Ski‑Nordique.

Lampic is a three-time winner of the cross-country skiing world championships. The 27-year-old athlete announced his transition to biathlon at the end of last season.
