Ukrainians used eight extra rounds
national team Norway won the men’s baton at the second stage biathlon world cupin Austrian Hochfilzen.
The Norwegians confidently walked along the entire distance, and before the last stage they won more than a minute from their closest rivals. Vetle Christiansen, who ended the race, made extra misses and ran a penalty loop, but there was enough time to finish first.
The second place was taken by the Swedish team, who lost half a minute to the winners. In third place is Germany – the Germans, like Norway, were forced to run a penalty loop.
national team Ukraine as part of Artem Prima, Anton Dudchenko, Bogdan Tsymbal and Taras Lesyuk finished in 12th position. The Ukrainians went the distance without penalty, using eight extra rounds. However, the speed to fight for higher places was not enough.
Earlier, the women’s pursuit race was held, which was won by the Frenchwoman Julie Simon, the leader of the individual classification. Ukrainian Anastasia Merkushina finished 35th.
On Sunday, two more races will take place in Hochfilzen. At 12:30 Kyiv time, the women’s relay starts, and the program of the stage will be completed by the men’s pursuit, which will begin at 15:15 Kyiv time.
