Manjin: I’m not happy with the race, I saw my problems at shooting and it was hard physically

Severe weather conditions affected the result

Ukrainian biathlete Vitaly Mandzin commented on his performance in the sprint at the third stage World Cup in Annecy.

“I am not happy with the race. Again I saw my problems in standing shooting. The speed let me down, and especially on the last lap, when I could no longer endure it – it was very hard physically, especially in the last meters of the distance. And such was the severity that he could not overcome it.

“When I started, I saw Tarjei Be in front of me, and visually did not lag behind him, but I ran the first lap, and he was already the third. He came to the bed, did everything well, was satisfied. Then there was fog on the rack at the firing line, although this did not really interfere. But in my head, probably because of this, there was a failure, I can’t explain the mistakes. Everything seems to be clearly laid out, how to work, what to do … incomplete.

“In the beginning, the weather was perfect. I went to our house, tuned in to the race, waited for my start. And when I went out to start, I saw that everything had changed, it was raining, it was uncomfortable. In the summer it is still possible to run in the rain, but in the winter it is confusing.”

“It is first of all an experience, very useful, to try to run a little with top biathletes. This experience is better than competing with peers. But I see that I still do not reach it, there is still a lot to work on. ”

Vitaly took 78th place in the sprint race. The Ukrainian missed twice in the standing shooting and lost to the winner Johannes Be for almost three and a half minutes.

On Friday, the program of the third stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Annecy will continue with the women’s sprint. The men’s pursuit will take place on Saturday, December 17th.
