Biathlete Anastasia Shevchenko said she cried after the mass start ended because she wanted to prove her abilities to coach Mikhail Shashilov.
Shevchenko on Sunday in the race for the general start at the Pari stage of the Commonwealth Cup in Ryazan took fifth place. She missed a shot and lost 38.5 seconds to race winner Dinara Alimbekova of Belarus.
– After the finish, you cried, what happened?
“Just a coincidence. Before the Commonwealth Cup I was sick. The question was whether I should race or not. Mikhail Viktorovich (Shashilov) wanted to leave me at home, but I wanted to prove that I can perform, that I can fight. We quarreled with him for a long time. As a result, I managed to call the “flowers”, which I am very happy about. I finally faced the shot, endured the finishing lap. Now I had confidence in myself, last year there was my initiative, but what happened has already happened, Shevchenko told reporters.
