Olympic alpine ski champion Beat Feutz has announced his retirement

swiss skier Defeat Feutz announced that he would retire from the sport in January.

The 35-year-old’s final start will be the World Cup downhill in Kitzbühel on January 21.

– I have skied enough, gained experience and achieved some results. It didn’t feel fair to fight for hundredths of a second anymore. Other things in life have become more important, especially family.

I am not one of those who complained a lot about the knee, but often the situation deteriorated more than expected. There is no point in continuing the fight. It takes so long to make the body competitive. I don’t want to waste so much time anymore. Of course, the body said it was over. But my family is too important to me to take that risk. I wanted the end of my career to be a surprise to the outside world. I definitely did. Then everything went exactly as I wanted, — quotes the words of Feutz Zofinger Tagblatt .

Feutz is the 2022 Olympic champion and 2018 Olympic bronze medalist in the downhill, and the 2018 Olympic silver medalist in the super-G. He also won the 2017 World Downhill Championships. The skier has won the small Crystal Globe four times in this discipline.
