The athlete is gradually brought to the desired level for the European and world championships
Coach of the biathlon team of Ukraine Yuraj Sanitra spoke about the problems of training a biathlete Daria Blashko. A special program was developed for the athlete in order to quickly bring her to the optimal level.
“I will say that she performs far from her capabilities, given the summer period, performance at the summer biathlon world championship. At Ruhpolding, I expected her to be the leader of the team, but that didn’t happen.”
“At first they couldn’t understand what happened, but now, when it was time to look at home where she was and what she was doing, I came to the conclusion … Last season before the Olympics, she was not ready as much as it was necessary, she fought until the last moment for getting into the Olympics. At the end of January, she had the last start of the season, during the Olympics she became very ill with the coronavirus, and after that she returned to Ukraine and spent a month in the basement, we know in what conditions.
“Blashko lost a lot of personal material, a rifle that was very important to her. And all these moments before the start of the season put a lot of pressure on her psychological state, which was transformed into a physical state. She didn’t trust herself, her shooting.”
“Now we have begun work on bringing her back to the level of 2 years ago, when she worked with me and our team. Blaschko did the work, the loads were more for her than she could handle. Daria joined our team only in Oberhof, it was at the beginning of June. It’s already late.”
“This season is very difficult, but we will see how she after a short break [выступит]. She is now at the training camp in Pokljuka, I made a special program for her in order to pull out [на более высокий уровень]. The women’s team needs Blaschko like salt to bread to be ready for the European and World Championships.”
Blashko has competed at all three World Cups this season. The best result of a biathlete is 48th place in the pursuit race in Annecy.
The next, fourth stage of the Biathlon World Cup will be held in Pokljuka, Slovenia. The stage is scheduled for women’s sprint (January 5), men’s sprint (January 6), women’s and men’s pursuit (January 7), as well as single mixed and mixed relay.
