Two-time Olympic skier Rosie Mittermeier dies at 73

Two-time German Olympic ski champion Rosie Mittermeier has died at the age of 72.

“She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday,” the Mittermeier family said in a statement to Spiegel.

Mittermeier won gold medals at the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics, winning the downhill and slalom events. She also took silver in the giant slalom. In addition, Mittermeier was a three-time world champion in 1976 and overall World Cup winner in the 1975/76 season.

His son Felix Neureuther has won 13 World Cups and won the team event at the 2005 World Cup.
