Swedish skier Frida Karlsson wins the Tour de Ski for the first time in her career

Swedish Olympic bronze medalist Frida Karlson won the general classification of the Tour de Ski multi-day race.

The multi-day event ended on Sunday with a 10 km freestyle race in Val di Fiemme (Italy).

Second place in the standings was taken by the Finn Kerttu Niskanen (lag – 33.2 seconds), the first three winners were closed by the Norwegian Tiril Weng (+47.6).

Karlsson became the first Swede since 2008 to win the Tour de Ski. Then Charlotte Kalla excelled.

In the last race of the competition, Karlsson took 15th place, losing 1 minute 40 seconds to the winner, Frenchwoman Delphine Claudel. Norwegian Heidi Weng finished second (+20.2), third was American Sophia Lockley (+35.7).

The Tour de Ski took place from December 31 in Switzerland, Germany and Italy. Russian athletes by decision of the International Ski Federation (FIS) are suspended from participation in international competitions.
