Biathlete does not want to force recovery
Leader and veteran of the Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Dmitry Pidruchny talked about the recovery process after knee surgery.
“I’m already in Austria, Obertilliach. Just a few hours ago, we arrived here with a youth team. I will try to return to a normal training regimen and resume my form. This is the main task.”
“I have been stepping on my foot for more than 10 days, I walk freely for 4-5 days. I will start full-fledged training from tomorrow and gradually, I think, I will add more every day. ”
“Doctors say that there is no need to be afraid, but do everything according to their program: what, when and what exercises to do, as well as what load can be given to this leg. Until today, I didn’t give training as such, there were only developmental exercises for the knee, which made it more flexible.
“I hope that tomorrow I will be able to ski. I will be guided by the situation, but there is a preliminary plan of action when and where I should go. But it all depends on how well I can recover. We will not force the form, rush to the European Championship or the World Championship. I will do everything based on how good the knee will feel.”
“Every day I am in contact with my doctor, who accompanied me to the operation in Germany. On contact with Ukrainian doctors. I am here with the team, where there is also a physiotherapist, I can work with him.”
Recall that the biathlete was diagnosed with a meniscus tear. Pidruchny underwent successful surgery in Germany in December.
It was reported that Dmitry’s return is expected at the World Championships in Oberhof, which will be held from 8 to 19 February 2023.
