Three-time world champion and member of the Russian luge team Roman Repilov told that his new sled runs faster than the ones he used at the Beijing Olympics.
Repilov at the 2022 Olympics became ninth in the single-seater sled (the best result among Russians) and took fourth place in the Russian relay team.
– Roman, on New Year’s Eve, you have a new sled. Tell us, are you happy with the inventory you dreamed of in last year’s interview?
– I was lucky, I found new partners. Two teams of highly qualified specialists worked on the sled – Polytech and Rostec.
Engineers from the Peter the Great Polytechnic University of St. Petersburg, led by the director of the advanced engineering school “Digital Engineering” Alexei Borovkov, designed and carried out the supercomputer modeling of the new sled, using technologies digital technologies, mainly digital twin development technologies. Rostec Corporation is a sled manufacturer.
I would like to say a big thank you to Ekaterina Baranova for her trust and faith in the result, and to all the specialists who helped in the production of sleds at modern high-precision enterprises.
A lot of work has been done, the sled is made according to the latest heights of fashion and technology. The driving results are excellent, in training the results were high. We’re not going to stop there, we’re going to improve luge while we’re suspended from international competitions.
Usually, new sleds need time to accelerate, the same, one might say, flew from the first run. We have great development potential, it will be better and better in the future,” Repilov told .
– If you were at the World Cup tomorrow, would luge help you win?
– I think so. They are made according to all new rules. I really want to test them in serious races. They go faster than my combat sled, in which I competed in the Beijing Olympics.
