Pavel Rostovtsev will not have the official status of head coach of the Russian biathlon team – source

The Russian Biathlon Union is preparing documents for the nomination Pavel Rostovtsev as a full-time coach of the Russian national team – while according to the documents his position will not be called “head coach”, a source at the Ministry of Sports told .

A source from confirmed the information from Dmitry Guberniev: the main and insoluble problem when the Sports Training Center (STC) of the Ministry of Sports is considering the candidacy of Pavel Rostovtsev for the post of head coach is his insufficient experience as a practicing specialist. Rostovtsev was the coach of the national team for three years – from the 2011/2012 season to the 2013/2014 season, as an assistant to the head coach of the women’s team Wolfgang Pichler. Officially, according to documents from the Ministry of Sports, his position was listed as “coach”.

To become a head coach, the experience of a national team specialist must be at least five years (or three years – but as a head coach). This is stated in the Order of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation of August 15, 2011 N916n “On approval of the unified qualification directory for the positions of managers, specialists and employees, section “Qualification characteristics of worker positions in the field of physical culture and sport”.

Therefore, the SBR will file documents for Rostovtsev as a “coach”. And it is only two years later that it will be possible to change his official position to “head coach”. In other words, Pavel Rostovtsev can be a head coach, he can be hired by the RBU (which, according to RBU President Viktor Maigurov, has already been done), but officially he will not be able to be a coach- leader for at least another two years.
