Ukrainian in the individual race took 89th place
Ukrainian biathlete Lyubov Kipyachenkova commented on her debut at the World Cup. According to the athlete, even with a large number of misses, she wanted to fight as much as possible in the distance.
“A very emotional race, because this is the first start. I was preparing for it, I was very worried, I wanted to show Ukraine at a decent level. I also wanted to try my hand at such an elite level. Some liked it, some not so much. I ran pretty well today. The atmosphere is good, many people are supportive, the adrenaline is running high, so you want to run better and faster.”
“But I didn’t like my shooting. At the first prone shooting I caught three misses, and I was very upset because I wanted to show my best side. And yet I tried to pull myself together, because, despite the misses, I tried to fight until the last meter of the distance. As for the race itself, it was definitely a good experience. When I just got to the start, I started to worry: I look around, there is only one elite, only stars, all very strong. As if you understand everything, but still your heart skips a beat. Of course, there are a lot of spectators here and a big difference in atmosphere with the IBU Cup. I liked it all very much. None of the fans interfered, and the support of the audience added strength.
“I saw what can be done – you need to work more on shooting. I plan to pay more attention to shooting with the coaches. Because it’s very annoying when you see that you can compete, but shooting throws you so far. I want to work well not only on the track, but also on the turn.”
“I didn’t really like the track here, because for me it is very difficult. Here you need to work not only on the plain, which is quite a lot, but also on the slopes, the whole track is working, there is nowhere to rest.”
“So far so good. I feel fine. When they said that I needed to go to the World Cup to help the team, I was ready. While such a state, nothing hurts me yet and everything works out, I try to get the maximum pleasure from the season. ”
Kipyachenkova made her debut at the World Cup, taking 89th place in the individual race in Ruhpolding – Lyubov made seven misses at the shooting range.
Further, the men’s (January 13) and women’s (January 14) relay races will be held in Ruhpolding, and the men’s and women’s mass starts (January 15) will complete the stage.
