French biathlete Julia Simon won the mass start of the fifth stage of the World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany.
The overall leader covered the 12.5km distance in 32 minutes 52 seconds, with three misses on four shooting lines. Italian Lisa Vitozzi finished second, followed by another Frenchwoman, Anaïs Chevalier Boucher.
Marte Olsby Reiseland of Norway, Elvira Oeberg of Sweden, Denise Herrmann-Wick of Germany and Anna Weidel missed the race.
Simone topped the mass start standings with 165 points.
The sixth stage of the World Cup will take place in Antholz, Italy, from January 19-22.
