biathlete Rustam Kayumov who took third place in the sprint at the Pari stage of the Russian Cup in Rybinsk, in a conversation with said that last year he lost “the feeling of the right shot”.
On Thursday, Kayumov, representing the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, took third place in the sprint at the fifth stage of the Russian Cup, which took place in Rybinsk from January 12-16. He misfired three times and lost 47 seconds to the winner. The first place was taken by a biathlete from the Tyumen region Alexander Povarnitsyn the second – a representative of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra Petr Pashchenko .
– This season, it is rarely possible to get on the podium. But last year I did a great job all season. It turned out to be a bit of a pain. Of course, I would like to leave on New Year’s Eve with a price, but it didn’t work out. But now the mood is completely different. I’m happy that I managed to win bronze, Kayumov told .
– Many biathletes say that the race turned out to be difficult, the track is not easy, the wind is at the firing point.
– I think the difficulty was only in shooting. And the trail isn’t difficult – it works. You have to think it through properly – work all the sections in your head, figure out how fast to go to survive the final lap and give it your all.
– With speed, you were in order. One miss less – and would have been the second.
– Yes, in terms of filming, it’s a lottery. The wind is unstable, blowing from the right, then from the left, it is difficult to adapt. And in general, my shooting has sucked since last year. I can’t catch the good shot I had before.
– Do you have any idea why? Psychology, or “physics” is not enough?
“I think the feeling of the good shot is gone. Somehow I miss small moments, both when standing and when lying down. Because of this, I make mistakes.
