Athletistic/ Figure Skating. As previously reported, the International Skating Union (ISU) has decided to cancel the Russian leg of the World Grand Prix series.

Olympic champion and sports journalist Elena Vaitsekhovskaya has expressed concern that the latest news from the ISU office could have serious consequences for national figure skating.

“The point is not even that athletes can start looking for options to change their sport citizenship: this process will not be massive, if only because it is always much easier to go with the flow than to change his own life. But that the format of the Grand – under Russia, which was implemented last fall, clearly turned out not to be in demand among the public, “said Vaitsekhovskaya.

“In the second version, interest in tournaments (and figure skating in general) will probably decrease even more. And this is a much bigger issue than the right to hold competitions,” Vaytsekhovskaya wrote in her channel of telegrams.
