Biathlete Larissa Kuklina told Metaratings.ru about his relationship with the coach Yuri Kaminsky and recovery after injury.
Kuklina has already won the sprint at the BET Commonwealth Cup in Raubichi.
– What is the reason for your second consecutive victory?
– We discussed with Yuri Mikhailovich Kaminsky that I had been sick with covid in the fall, and I also had a prolonged leg injury in the summer, which prevented me from fully training. I had to take painkillers. Gradually the disease goes away and good form returns, in addition we have a good dialogue with Yuri Mikhailovich “athlete – trainer”, which has always been important for me in preparation. Maybe that also played a big role.
– Leonid Guryev said that you found a second youth with Kaminsky. What are your impressions of working with a male mentor?
– Now I have only positive emotions working with Yuri Mikhailovich. Also, my personal trainer and husband Mikhail Kuklin is in constant contact with me. Misha knows me very well and always helps with making some adjustments and can suggest something. I love that we have an ongoing dialogue with Kaminsky. I like that Yuri Mikhailovich always listens to the condition of the athlete.
What did he say to you after the arrival?
– Before the start, we thought that I had an incomprehensible muscular condition, a little fluffy. I was afraid it would be difficult to run. After the finish, he came to hug me and told me that I was scared in vain. I wasn’t scared, but in my head I was trying to break down the race based on the current state.
The next Commonwealth Cup race in Raubichi, the men’s sprint, will take place on Friday January 20 and will be broadcast live on the channel at 10:40 a.m. Moscow time.
