Alexander Tikhonov: “I want to create the Russian Hockey League”

Four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov in a conversation with a correspondent, he spoke out in favor of the idea of creating the Russian Hockey League.

The Russian Ministry of Sports previously approved a tightening of the Legionnaires’ limit in the Continental Hockey League (KHL ) from August 1, 2023. Due to the situation in Ukraine, two foreign clubs left the KHL in the 2021/22 season – Finland’s Jokerit and Dynamo Riga. A number of Legionnaires terminated their contracts with Russian clubs.

– I want to create the Russian Hockey League, RHL, we can do it. You watch the NHL coverage every day – very often our guys are nearby. How many of our hockey players are there, 40-50 people? In our country, the ice palaces are packed, the country is the richest, and today hockey is the number one sport. If all Russian hockey players came from the NHL to play in Russia, tickets for games would not be available. I love hockey, I constantly watch CSKA matches, often in contact with Fetisov, Lutchenko, Tretiak. It’s a pity, of course, that no one is talking about the creation of the Russian Hockey League,” Tikhonov told .
