Ukrainian woman hardly passes acclimatization at the mountain stage
Ukrainian biathlete Elena Bilosyuk commented on her performance in the pursuit race at the World Cup stage, which takes place in Antholz-Anterselva, Italy.
“It so happened that after Xiangok I got sick. It seems to be nothing serious, but two weeks just fell out for me. I couldn’t train, I couldn’t really do anything. After that, I got involved for another week and, in fact, already started in Ruhpolding, but I was far from the necessary conditions there. Then a few more days of training were very hard for me, but I’m glad that I managed to run the sprint here more or less normally, because today I had some cramps again. It’s good that for the last two or three laps it let go a little, and I could somehow run.”
“Yes, we succeeded. [побороться]. Just on the last lap I was released by spasms. And I already ran, I feel that I can fight. In general, I have a hard time acclimatizing. [на высоте] always, today is just such a hard day, because I skipped the sprint to the beginning of acclimatization quite well. Today, I think, is just that bad day.
“I made two zeros, and made two misses. On the first prone, I thought it was because of the wind, and then they showed me the table, and I saw that I pulled it myself. And on the last rack there was such a working miss. Still, altitude, shortness of breath, zero, it’s hard to shoot at all here in Antgolts.
Bilosyuk finished in 36th position in the pursuit race with two misfires at the shooting range. The pursuit race was won by the German biathlete Denise Herrmann-Wick.
Tomorrow, Italy will host the women’s relay, which will finish the stage in Antholz-Anterselva. Bilosyuk will enter the race in the third stage. In addition to Elena, Ukraine will be represented by Anna Krivonos, Yulia Dzhima and Anastasia Merkushina.
