Three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Alexander Bolshunov shared his thoughts on the relationship with the skier Sergei Ustyugov .
Bolshunov and Ustyugov at the Russian Cup stages this season have faced each other many times, including through the media. At the Krasnogorsk stage at the end of December, during the sprint, the skiers collided, as a result of which Bolshunov fell, shattered his face in blood and lost consciousness for a while.
– We have a normal relationship with Ustyugov. Workers. Of course, in competitions, we are rivals, and that’s normal. Everyone wants to do their best. Sometimes during the struggle it comes to like in Krasnogorsk. It is clear that it is better to avoid such things, and you must win with a margin, so there is no hint of such a thing.
Sergey and I always greet each other, but we do not communicate closely. We are not best friends who could share our thoughts, plans or just chat. “Hi”, “goodbye”, “how are you?” – these are our usual phrases, – quote Bolshunov’s words “Championship”.
