The second medal for Alexandra at the event
Ukrainian Alexandra Merkushina won a bronze medal in European Youth Olympic Festival 2023which continues in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Merkushina in the short individual race started with two mistakes at the first shooting range. However, the Ukrainian, despite four final misses, managed to outrun the contenders for medals at a distance.
German Julia Tannheimer became the winner of the race. EYOF 2023 silver went to Frenchwoman Woldie Jalmas Polin. Two compatriots Merkushina also took part in the race: Tatyana Tarasyuk became 18th, and Valeria Sheigas – 37th.
For Alexandra Merkushina, the medal in the short individual race is the second at the competitions in Italy. Previously, the biathlete won the sprint race.
The final race in Italy will take place on Thursday 28 January. This day will be a mixed relay.
