At the finish line, the Ukrainian beat the Swede Tilda Johansson by 0.5 seconds
Ukrainian biathlete Anastasia Merkushina became sprint race winner on European championship in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
The 28-year-old Ukrainian was able to shoot cleanly on both shooting ranges, and thanks to the increase in speed on each of the following laps, she showed the best time in the race. At the finish, Merkushina overtook Swede Tilda Johansson by 0.5 seconds.
In terms of rate of fire in the race, Merkushina has the second result, in terms of overall speed – 19th.
For Anastasia, this is the third victory at the European Championship. In the 2014/15 season, she won the sprint and pursuit at the European Championship.
As for the results of other Ukrainians, Anna Krivonos finished 22nd with one penalty. Yulia Dzhima finished the race 39th, while Elena Belosyuk and Lyubov Kipyachenkova were out of the top 50.
